To run any food business in India (hotel, restaurant, food stall, grocery shop, bakery, etc.), you must apply for a Food License (FSSAI License) issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.

Go to the FSSAI portal

2️⃣ Create Account / Login
Click Sign Up
Enter:
Name

3️⃣ Apply for License
Click Apply for License / Registration
Choose:
Basic Registration – Small business (turnover below ₹12 lakh)
State License – Medium business (₹12 lakh – ₹20 crore)
Central License – Large business (above ₹20 crore)
4️⃣ Fill Application Form
Enter business details:

Type of food business
Food category
5️⃣ Upload Documents
Required documents:
Aadhaar card
Passport size photo
Business address proof
Food safety declaration
NOC from municipality (if required)
6️⃣ Pay Application Fee

7️⃣ Submit Application
You will receive Application Reference Number (ARN)
Food department may inspect your shop.
